HRH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum presents the award to Mike Gault, Guardtime CEO and Taavi Rõivas, Estonian Prime Minster 2014-16.

Mike Gault, CEO of Guardtime said:
“It is an honor to receive this prestigious award in recognition for our work with the Estonian Government in implementing blockchain as an integral and foundational layer to all government electronic services, including health-care."
Today there are many governments investigating  the promise of blockchain as a part of their digital transformation strategy. We wholeheartedly invite them to  Estonia to see the only blockchain implementation deployed in production as part of national policy. Although there is much hype around blockchain in the market today, Estonia is years ahead in thinking through the design of blockchain systems that can scale and work with existing government legacy systems.

The Guardtime stack is the Unix philosophy applied to blockchain - abstraction and encapsulation  into layers , each of which does one function well. This approach provides scalability, interoperability, reliability and works with legacy systems.
